Not everyone wants to marry or register as domestic partners.

As an alternative, couples can enter into contractual agreements called “cohabitation agreements” (also known as “Marvin agreements.”)  Cohabitation agreements allow couples to identify rights and responsibilities within their relationships.  These agreements are governed by contract law, whereas family law governs marriages and registered domestic partnerships.
